My Summer Bucket List

May 26, 2016

Memorial Day weekend is here!  Which means summer has officially started.  Here is  my bucket list of must-dos in the Newburyport area.

First, watch a Plum Island sunset, but please wear lots of bug spray.  Just ask the folks at Newburyport Brewing, who famously carry a Greenhead IPA.

Plum Island Sunset

Grab a plate of fried clams at Bob Lobster, and BYO(local)B.

Ipswich AleBob Lobster Fried Clams

Get a cone at Haley’s Ice Cream.

Visit an arcade, think Salisbury, Hampton or (my hometown favorite) York Beach.  Watching tickets churn out of a skeeball machine stills feels as magical as it did when you were 8 years olds.

York Beach Maine

Hit up the Thursday Night concert series at the Crane Estate.  Bring your own food, or order from a local food truck. Ipswich Ale and Mill River Winery will be on hand for your drinking pleasure.

Crane EstateMake friends with someone who owns a boat, here’s to hoping someone with a slip is reading this post.  Another option, check into Freedom Boat Club, use boats all summer without having to buy your own.

Boat Ride

Take a walk off the beaten path in Newburyport and admire at the window boxes and gardens of your neighbors!

Ride a Ferris Wheel.

But most importantly, take it easy.  Summer tends to fill up with BBQs, beach trips, and mini getaways.  Try not to overschedule yourself.  Say no on occasion, kick up your feet in your backyard and watch the grass grow.

Happy Summer!
