Ipswich Ale Brewer’s Table

Today’s post comes from Katelyn.  Leave it to the foodie of the group to find herself at the soft opening of one of our favorite local breweries. 

When my boyfriend and I went to the soft opening of the Ipswich Ale Brewer’s Table earlier this week, we expected what anyone would expect: Surely there would be some growing pains, maybe the order wouldn’t be perfect—just the usual soft opening hiccups every restaurant endures during its first week. But boy oh boy, were we wrong. Ipswich Ale Brewer’s Table was nothing short of impressive.

Decor: 4.5/5 stars

Besides the fact that every window is a unique view into the brewery itself (really awesome touch), the booths are roomy, the bar is spacious, and the layout is great for diners and staff alike. I’ll leave some of the coolest elements for surprise! (Hint: Check out behind the bar—you can’t miss it!)


Food: 3.5/5 stars

For a soft opening, the food was great. First, we had an extremely unique take on a stuffed calamari with chorizo and grilled corn—totally not what we expected but was outstanding. For dinner, I had the meatball. Yes, a meatball. One of the best I’ve had, the meatball was a full ½ pound with cheese and a DELICIOUS meat sauce, one I will certainly be ordering again. Not pictured was the pulled pork sandwich that my boyfriend got. His words: “Too much bun and not enough pork and BBQ sauce.” Given that it was a soft opening, I’m not too worried about it and I’m sure they’ll make changes accordingly.


Overall Rating: 4 stars

Like I said, since this was the Ipswich Ale Brewer’s Table’s soft opening, we were pleasantly surprised. The decor was perfect, the food was solid, and the wait staff were so excited and accommodating. Given what we experienced, get down there quick because this place is going to be hard to get into any night of the week!

PS: They’re going to start serving pizza soon. Yup, pizza.
