Invitation Night and Holiday Shopping in Newburyport

December 7, 2015

The first time I attended Holiday Invitation Night in Newburyport it made me realize this was the town I wanted to call home.  The shops stay open late—until 9 pm—and hand out free alcohol and snacks. Some places go above and beyond (I’m looking at you John Farley) with full carving stations and classy liquor.  Make a dinner reservation if you plan to eat in town.  The streets are busy and the restaurants packed. With two more invitation nights left in December, this is an event you don’t want to miss.

Other weekend highlights included the kid-friendly Polar Express, which departs from the Newburyport Commuter Rail Station.  This is a one day event and always sells out.  Plan ahead for next year by adding yourself to the email contact list.  Pictured below are the wildlings after successfully evading my attempts to brush their hair prior to boarding the train.
